Our Story

From Sierra Leone to the South Side

Esters of Nature was founded by Dr. Mohamed G. Sherriff, PhD in Organic Chemistry. His love of plants began in the forests around his grandmother's village in Sierra Leone, where she farmed, wove cotton into mud cloth, and gathered herbs as the family's herbalist.

Today he bridges those two worlds, traditional plant wisdom and modern chemistry, in skin and hair care handmade in small batches on the South Side of Chicago. For almost two decades, shea butter has been the heart of everything we make. Every product is plant-based and free of parabens and petroleum-based ingredients.
